    EASTBAY FIELD TESTED:
    Eastbay's Field Tested program helps athletes prepare to win by giving them access to field test product reviews from professional athletes and elite amateurs in their sport and position.

    • This unique online resource offers unbiased reviews of the performance of sports gear
    • Reviews are stringent assessments (not paid endorsements) from elite high school and professional athletes who wear and use the gear in competition
    • The program highlights the outstanding attributes of a particular piece of gear
    • Reviewers, or Field Testers, complete detailed personal profiles that include position, level of play and biometrics so results are easily searchable

    Eastbay Field Tested launched in June 2013. Information about it can be found on eastbay.com's product description pages, digital ads and in catalogs. There will also be a series of commercials launching in July and August.

    Q: How are the products tested?

    A: We've met up with several pro athletes individually to have them test products and give us their product assessments. We've also attended elite amateur events, such as FBU camps, to get field tests from up-and-coming athletes. We ask every Eastbay Field Tester to wear the gear for one full practice or training session (if possible) before providing their feedback on an Eastbay Field Test.

    Q: How do you know how many people have tested an item?

    A: If an item has been field tested, you can find the total number of field tests on the product's detail page at the very top, next to the product image and "overall rating" box. Or, if you scroll down to the "Field Test Scores" section, you can also find the number underneath the "overall score" box. If you are having trouble locating a product's detail page, simply click on the product you are interested in and you will find it.

    Q: When I do a search for products, how are the results sorted?

    A: Gererally, products are sorted high to low based on overall score for the position selected. Occasionally, results may narrow, re-sort to an average high to low, or the order the products are presented in will change. This happens based on the attributes you've selected.

    Q: What is the Gear Finder?

    A: Our Gear Finder allows you to search for product based on your Sport, Position and Product Type. You would indicate which product attributes are most important to you and would then be asked for some additional attributes including playing surface, conditions and style. After completing your selections, you would receive a list of products specific to your sport and position.

    Q: How are products sorted in the Gear Finder?

    A: Products are sorted high to low based on an average score. This average score only considers the attributes you have selected. For example, if you choose the "Overall Rating" as most important to you, the results you receive would be ranked high to low based on the average scores for "Overall Rating".

    Q: Overall vs. Average. What's the difference?

    A: "Overall Score" rates a product as a whole based on all of its attributes, meaning that it scored high or low in all areas. "Average Score" rates the product based on the needs that are most important to your game and position, meaning that a shoe may not rate very high for style but it could have the traction you are looking for.
