The Next Best Thing to Running Barefoot
After noticing race competitors training barefoot, Nike designers responded in 2005 with the innovative and minimalist Nike Free Running Shoe. Shorter-distance runners preferred its barely-there feel and flexibility that promoted a natural range of motion and speed. At the same time, the shoe’s snug, stretchy fit and performance-engineered running platform provided important stability and comfort. In the ensuing years, elements of the Free were adapted for a wider range of athletic applications; Eastbay carries nearly 100 models to choose from.
