No Distractions. No Discomfort. Yes adidas AlphaBounce.

Your shoe should never interfere with your run. The pulls and tugs of fabric on your feet can be uncomfortable and annoying — the type of problems you should leave in your dust. With this in mind, adidas designers strove to come up with a shoe that not only eliminates distractions, but allows you to forget your shoes altogether — a shoe that feels like you are running free, while protecting your feet and remaining stylish. Their effort resulted in the adidas AlphaBounce, a shoe that will revolutionize your run.

To accomplish a run that is free from annoying shoe distractions, adidas used ARAMIS motion capture technology, the same technology that NASA uses to check the hulls of space shuttles. The ARAMIS system was able to map the movements of skin, bone and muscle in a runner’s foot, allowing adidas engineers to design a shoe based directly on how a foot moves. By capturing the parts of the foot that expand, adidas engineered an upper that moves and expands along with a foot during even the most intense run.

The upper is made of ForgedMesh, a single-layer material with no seams. Molded in a ribbed pattern, ForgedMesh fits like a glove, combining incredible mobility with protection and cushioning. Adidas even took their classic branding off the side of the adidas AlphaBounce, preventing interference with the movement of the foot and allowing for a smooth run without unnecessary pulling on the fabric of the upper.

Not all the technology of the adidas AlphaBounce is new – the running shoe has also incorporated a full-coverage Bounce Midsole. Adidas debuted Bounce technology in 2016. This midsole is made of EVA foam and bounces back after every foot strike, providing energy return on your every step and allowing for a faster, more comfortable run.

Starting with the AlphaBounce, adidas is working to develop new materials and processes rather than off-the-shelf ones. They want to innovate the running industry, constantly changing the market with new technology and all-around better shoes. Their seamless integration between the sole and upper of a shoe allows both elements to work together to provide the best experience to runners everywhere.
