adidas Originals Deerupt

adidas designers had gone into the archive, which holds an astounding 7,000 shoes, and found their inspiration for a bold new design for adidas’ Originals line. So when the Deerupt was released, sneakerheads recognized it as paying homage to the adidas Marathon Trainer released nearly 40 years earlier. That classic shoe was, in fact, one of the last designs from the founder of adidas, Adolf “Adi” Dassler. The iconic kicks from the ’70s and early ’80s featured a mesh support structure on the midsole to provide uniform compression and rebound.

The Deerupt gives a nod to the past with its minimally styled upper, which is made of sandwich mesh and covered in stretch grid webbing. The shoe also features a suede heel patch, zoned cushioning, and a rubber outsole. It functions as a slip-on but has a lace-up closure for added design.

They noticed that Instagram fit pics often feature people standing with their foot planted and their toes pressed down. This shape has been intentionally “built in” to the Deerupt so they look good in pics that people post on social media.

The Originals Deerupts are part of adidas Original line, which takes classic adidas shoes and apparel from the company’s past and revamps them into new and creative versions for the 21st century. Items in the Originals line feature the company’s classic Three Stripes as well as the iconic Trefoil logo, which was discontinued on adidas products in 1998.
