3/4 Compression Tights for 100% Performance
While the presence of compression tights in sports has become commonplace these days, some may not be aware of the reasons for their popularity. The evolution of this type of athletic apparel has taken place relatively quickly. It began with therapeutic compression socks in 1950, designed for people who were concerned about varicose veins, deep vein thrombosis, or tissue swelling. Compression socks provided relief and prevention for many individuals. By around 1980 distance runners began adopting compression footwear to promote blood flow and reduce muscle vibration. As knowledge of the benefits of runners’ compression socks spread, the concept was adapted by other athletes for full-leg coverage to reduce the build-up of lactic acid, stabilize muscles, and promote efficient circulation to oxygenate muscles. By the early 2000s, compression pants, under shorts, shirts, and sleeves started popping up among players in basketball, football, baseball, and other sports.
