PLACE:
Eastbay parking lot, 111 S. 1st Ave.,Wausau, WI 54401

TIMES:
Race Day Registration: 6:30 am - 8:00 am. 5K Run/Walk begins at 8:30 am.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Course is 5K (3.1 miles). The route is fairly flat on paved city streets. Course starts and finishes in the Eastbay parking lot.

REGISTRATION:
Online registration closes at 4 PM on Tuesday 11/20.

ENTRY FEES:
Race Day Registration: $20 - November 22, 2012. REGISTRATION opens at 6:30 am and CLOSES at 8:00 am SHARP! 100% of your registration fee is donated to the Marathon County Hunger Coalition, an initiative of The United Way. Your registration fee helps feed those in need during the holiday season.

The Turkey Trot 5K Walk/Run is limited to a maximum of 1,500 entrants. Race day registration will only be available if the cap of 1,500 entries has not been reached by that time.

Wednesday, November 21, 2012, 3:00 - 8:00 pm at the Eastbay Retail store, 111 S. 1st Avenue, Wausau, WI.

T-SHIRTS:
Participants will receive a sport t-shirt. T-shirts only available while quantities last.

There will be parking at the Eastbay facility as well as on the surrounding neighborhood streets.

From the north: From US-51 S, take exit 192A/Stewart Ave - go 0.3 mi. Turn Left on WI-52 E - go 1.4 mi. Turn left on S 1st Ave. (US-51-BR N) - go 0.2 mi.
From the south: From US-51 N, take exit 192/Stewart Ave. onto WI-52 E toward Wausau - go 1.4 mi. Turn left on S 1st Ave, (US-51-BR N) - go 0.2 mi.
From the east: From WI-29 W, take the Wausau (WI-29 W)/Chippewa Falls exit onto US-51 N - go 4.9 mi. Take exit 192/Stewart Ave. onto WI-52 E toward Wausau - go 1.4 mi. Turn left on S 1st Ave. (US-51-BR N) -go 0.2 mi.
From the west: From WI-29 E, take exit 164/Merrill (WI-52) - go 0.6 mi. Continue on WI-52 E - go 2.0 mi. Turn left on S 1st Ave. (US-51-BR N) - go 0.2 mi.

REFRESHMENTS:
Refreshments available for all participants following the race.

A : Yes, you may wear headphones during either event, but they are not encouraged, as you will be running on roads and we would like you to be aware of your surroundings at all times.

Q : Are dogs allowed?

A : For safety reasons, dogs are not allowed on either course or during the pre- or post-race activities.

Q : Are strollers allowed?

A : Yes, strollers are allowed in the 5K Fun Run/Walk. We ask that strollers line up towards the back of the pack at the start of the event.

Q : Will there be water along the course?

A : We will have a water station around 1.5 mile mark.

A : The 5K Fun Run/Walk is a flat, fast course.

Race Information - Friday and Saturday

The 2nd annual Eastbay Half Marathon & 5k Fun Run/Walk is brought to you by Eastbay, the Wausau Police Department and the Special Olympics Wisconsin.

As a way of giving back to the community, event proceeds will be donated to the Special Olympics Wisconsin (SOWI). This statewide organization provides people with cognitive disabilities with year-round sports training and competition.

Eastbay Half Marathon & 5K Fun Run/Walk:
The half marathon and 5K follow the same route until mile 1.5. At that time, the 5K participants will turn around and head toward the finish at Marathon Park, while the half marathon participants will continue on the trek up Rib Mountain. This course will take place as fall approaches and foliage changing colors reaches its peak, will take the runner through scenic areas of Wausau and Rib Mountain. Runners will be surrounded by the beauty Rib Mountain has to offer as they run up the 670 ft. climb to the top and then race back down. Designed as a challenge, this course will give all participants a reason to celebrate as they cross the finish line.

  • Free Gear Check Service: drop off your gear at the gear check area by registration. All of your gear can be picked up after the event in the same location.
  • Single-Use Timing Chip: half marathon participants will be provided with a timing chip on the back of their race bib. This will provide individual overall race time and splits for Rib Mountain.
  • Personal audio devices are permitted.
  • Refreshments and porta potties at the start/finish line and along the course
  • Mile markers present at every mile
  • Medical aid and volunteers available along the course
  • No pets will be permitted on any course
  • Strollers will only be allowed in the 5K Fun Run/Walk
  • Half marathon participants receive a commemorative finishers medal as they cross the finish line
  • Celebrate your success of finishing the 5K or half marathon by rocking out to a live band and enjoying some post-race nourishment
  • Awards for Half Marathon announced for:
  • TOP THREE male and female overall times will receive a commemorative item
  • FASTEST male and female times up and down Rib Mountain will receive a commemorative item

Q : When is the last day to register?

A : Registration closes for the Half Marathon and 5K Fun Run/Walk on September 21, 2012 at midnight. The Half Marathon does have a cap of 750 and can close sooner if the cap is met. THERE IS NO RACE-DAY REGISTRATION for either event.

Q : Why is there a cap on the half marathon?

A : We want to ensure all of our participants have an enjoyable experience and return next year.

Q : When can I pick up my race packet?

A : Race packets for both events can be picked up on either Friday, September 28, 2012 from noon to 8:00 p.m. at the Eastbay retail store (111 S 1st Ave, Wausau, WI) or on race day, Saturday, September 29, 2012 from 6: 00 a.m. until 7:15 a.m. in Marathon Park grandstand area. In order to pick up the race packet for either event, each participant MUST have a signed waiver with them. If you plan to have someone else pick up your race packet for you, they MUST have your signed waiver when they pick up your packet.

Q : Can I get my packet in advance of the pick-up dates?

A : Race packets for both events will only be available during designated pick-up times. A : Yes, you may switch your event. The switch must be done by email notification, no later than September 17, 2012 and only if the 750 cap has not been reached at the time. Q : Will there be water stations, nutrition and restrooms along the course?

A : We will have water stations, nutritional items and restrooms for you along the course. There will be both beverages and energy nutrition available.
