Nike Free
Nike running is always pushing the envelope when it comes to groundbreaking technology. Typically, this is with advancements in Air Max cushioning but Nike Free is, in a way, the exact opposite. Nike Free is a design that is aimed at emulating the natural movements of the human foot.

Nike Free designs have featured increasingly more flexible designs and an increased number of styles have been created as the line has progressed. Nike Free technology has now become a part of many minimalist running shoe designs, as well as minimalist training shoes. Aspects of the Nike Free line, like the use of flex grooves to increase flexibility of the midsole and outsole, have also been transferred to other performance genres. Many Nike Free silhouettes like the Nike Free Run 2+ have also integrated Nike+ that offers runners the ability to track their running through their iPod. A descendent of the sock-like Nike Air Presto, Nike Free development began back in 2001. The minimalistic running shoe design allows the added benefits of barefoot movement. Often times studies show that barefoot running allows your foot to become 10-20 percent stronger and up to 10 percent more flexible. When the original Nike Free 5.0 design launched in 2005 with a "run barefoot" advertising campaign the approach was unlike any Nike had ever taken. The Nike Free 4.0 design was the first to feature no laces; instead a unique midfoot strap secured the shoe to your foot.
