If you already know what type of a runner you are, read below to see what type of shoes you should be wearing.
Cushioned
- Generally have the softest midsoles and the least added stability.
- Built on a semi-curved or curved last to encourage foot motion, which is helpful for underpronators or supinators who have rigid, immobile feet.
- Able to handle long runs and protect the joints, but lacks the extra medial support that runners with high arches don't require.

- These technologies include Bounce from adidas.

Stability
- Designed for runners with normal arches who mildly overpronate and need extra support through the heel, midsole and post area.
- Will often have a medial post or dual-density midsole, which provide firmer density under the inner edge of your foot.
- Usually built on a semi-curved last, these shoes are made for midweight runners who don’t have any severe motion control problems and want a shoe with some medial support.

Motion Control
- Rigid, control-oriented running shoes that are designed to slow down or help limit extreme inward rolling of the foot and ankle.
- Excessive overpronators are at a higher risk of injury and need a shoe that helps hold their foot in the proper position.
- These shoes are generally heavy but very durable. Built on a straight last, they offer stability and maximum support on the inner side of the foot.
- Also made for heavy runners and those with extremely flat arches.

Lightweight Performance
- Lighter and more responsive for racing, tempo runs or fast training days.
- Usually built on a semi-curved or curved last with less cushioning than a normal running shoe.
- Choose a performance running shoe if you're a quick, efficient runner who wants a light second shoe for fast-paced training, or you want a racing shoe with more support and cushioning than you'd get from one of the pure, super-light racers.
