The half marathon and 5K follow the same route until mile 1.5. At that time, the 5K event will turn around and head toward the finish at Marathon Park, while the half marathon participants will continue on the trek up Rib Mountain. This course designed to take place as fall approaches and foliage changing colors reaches its peak, will take the runner through scenic areas of Wausau and Rib Mountain. Runners will be surrounded by the beauty Rib Mountain has to offer as they run up the climb to the top and then race back down. Designed as a challenge, this course will give all participants a reason to celebrate as they cross the finish line. As a way of giving back to the community, a portion of the event proceeds will be donated to the Special Olympics Wisconsin (SOWI). This statewide organization provides people with cognitive disabilities with year-round sports training and competition.
