This is a great idea! My daughter put them on immediately and loved them.
Unfortunately shortly after, the back of the shoe bruised the back of her ankle making it very uncomfortable to play in. This happened only on the right ankle which is the one side that she doesn't wear an ankle brace on. I think you are safe if you wear ankle braces on both ankles. We pad the back of her ankle with 2-3 thick bandaids and she uses a thick neoprene ankle sleeve on game days. That has helped tremedously.
The other problem I have is I bought this shoe on 12-6-10 .. two weeks ago I was getting my daughter's bag ready for her game and I noticed the stitching on the inside of the shoes were coming apart. The leather quilted padding is nice, but the leather is also coming off probably because she dives for every loose ball and it happens when the side of her shoes hits the floor. Keep in mind, she only wears these shoes on game days. She doesnt wear them in practice because of the back of the shoe bruising her ankle.
Otherwise .. my kid loves these shoes and she still puts them on for every game. She likes how light they are and she likes how she hit the floor running in them without having to break them in first. They are comfortable other than the back of the shoe hurting her ankle.
Like I said great idea .. but the quality of the shoe needs alot of attention.
