What A Year
In the game of numbers, Clayton Kershaw doesn't settle for anything less than #1. First in the NL in wins, with 21. First in strikeouts, with 248. First in ERA, with 2.28. First in WHIP, with 0.98. With stats like that, it's no surprise that Kershaw was the National League Cy Young Award winner for 2011. His lineup of awards is a big deal in the big leagues. Kershaw knows that 2011, "As far as individual accomplishments go, that's about as good as you can get." He keeps a team-focused attitude though, just trying to get a win for the team every time he goes out to the mound. And now that he's accomplished just about everything else, there's no doubt that a future World Series win is on his mind. As if the stats and awards weren't enough to be remembered by, Kershaw is very clear about the legacy he's looking to leave: "On the field, I just want people to remember me as someone who competed."
