Quiksilver

Quiksilver was founded in Australia in 1969. In the beginning Quiksilver had a simple goal of creating better boardshorts. In 1976 the company began selling boardshorts in Huntington Beach, California, under the Quiksilver USA name. In true California surf culture fashion, the story goes the boardshorts were sold at the beaches of Southern California out of the back of Volkswagen Bus. In 1984 the 1st "Quiksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau" event is held at Sunset Beach, and would become one of the most well known annual big wave surf events. Throughout the years Quiksilver has sponsored countless professional and amateur surfers. In 1986 they sponsored one of the brightest young stars in the sport, Jack Johnson, who would go on to become the popular musician he is today. In 1990 they signed one of their most important athletes, surfer Kelly Slater. Slater has remained a sponsored athlete ever since and is one of the most decorated surfers in history, recently adding an 11th ASP World Title to his accomplishments.

That same year, Quiksilver introduced the Roxy women's line to the world, which has since become one of the most popular women's surf inspired clothing lines in the world. The popularity of Quiksilver boardshorts, Quiksilver t-shirts, and other apparel has continued to grow over the years and they've continued to sponsor both amateur and professional athletes in surf, skate and snow sports, including skateboarders Tony Hawk and Danny Way. In 2004 Quiksilver acquired popular skate shoe company DC Shoes.
