Baseball batting gloves are designed for one job - protecting your hands from the bat. After days of batting practice and games, constant swinging, and vibration from your bat handle, your hands can be feeling it.Hopefully, your batting glove's palm will be enough to protect your hands.
When selecting a palm, you have the choice between leather and synthetic material. A high-quality leather palm is sought after for its soft feel on the bat handle. This material is naturally strong and durable but contains enough stretch to keep your hands flexible. If you decide on synthetic, you'll get even more stretch, often due to spandex. Since these synthetics are manufactured, they contain more technology. One of the biggest of these technologies is moisture management that pulls sweat off the skin and helps it evaporate. If your palm material isn't providing enough protection on its own, you can try a design that includes some padding in the palm. Palm pads are thin foam that won't get in the way of your grip, but will eliminate some of the sting of an off-center hit.
A glove's fit is up to the player, but generally, they should fit tight around the hand and wrist. Most gloves contain stretch elements that allow a snug fit to remain comfortable. Also working to your advantage is the element of pre-curved fingers. Shaped to mirror your hand, this helps reduce any bunching of the material that can interfere with your grip.
