When baseball began over 100 years ago, baseball pants were so long and baggy players would trip over them sliding into first base! Luckily, baseball pants have changed with the times. Those long, baggy pants were soon raised to the knee and worn with socks and stirrups. Later on, pant legs were lowered and tightened. Many players today wear their pants with their socks showing, while others will wear them long enough to cover their cleats. Baseball pants are available from knee length to heel length, but the choice is purely based on personal preference.
In the beginning, baseball pants were made of wool. One can only imagine how warm those players got on a hot summer's day. Today, baseball pants are made with either a cotton\polyester blend or 100% polyester. The 100% polyester pants will be more durable, but the lighter weight poly\cotton pants will be cooler during those hot summer games. Another thing to keep in mind when making your choice of baseball pants is that grey pants will be much easier to clean than white pants, and they won't show off as much dirt. Baseball pants can rip easily, especially on the upper thigh when you slide into base, so you should look for baseball pants that feature a little more padding on the thighs.
One of the most important features of baseball pants is how they fit. Some players will choose tight baseball pants, while others choose very loose pants. Again, it's a matter of personal preference, but make sure your pants are comfortable and don't restrict your movement when running or stretching. We carry a full line of baseball pants in both adult and youth sizes. Some of these pants feature contrast-color piping that's sewn in the side seams, and some have double knees for durability.
We carry pants from brands like Nike, Easton, Under Armour, Majestic, Mizuno, Rawlings, and Eastbay! The Nike Lights Out Game Pant features a gripper elastic waistband and reinforced knees for durability. Easton's Quantum Pro Plus Pant has the patent-pending Inseam Adjustment System that allows you to change the 35" inseam (adult sizes) to fit your needs. The Eastbay Big Wide Long Baseball Pant features an unfinished bottom that you can tailor to your specific length\fit. The Under Armour Leadoff II Pant is made with a HeatGear fabric that offers maximum moisture protection in temperatures between 75뀬 degrees. Majestic's Cool Base HD Pants have a textured back Ban-Rol waistband with gripper elastic and pro-style tunnel loops that give you the best in comfort and fit. The Mizuno Global Elite Pant uses a stain-resistant fabric to keep them looking great game after game. The Ace Relaxed Fit Pant from Rawlings is made with a two-way stretch fabric that features Pro-Dri with moisture management and stain release.
